  • The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Colorado State University (CSU) is seeking applications for Research Scientists.

    Positions with specific areas of research could include:

  • This 50% FTE position will provide comprehensive administrative, planning, and organizational support to two program faculty members responsible for delivering 8 veterinary communication courses and 4-6 veterinary communication continuing education workshops annually. The courses are collaboratively taught, and as the administrative assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting faculty, guest instructors, communication coaches, and simulated clients. Your contribution is essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality education to veterinary students and facilitating professional development for veterinarians.

  • The incumbent will perform and report a variety of diagnostic tests including, but not limited to bacteriology, virology, serology, molecular diagnostics, and parasitology. This position will also assist the veterinary diagnostician in necropsy examination of livestock, wildlife, and companion animals. In addition, the technician will have responsibilities involving customer service, administrative paperwork, quality control, and community outreach.

    This position is full-time with schedule based on laboratory needs. This is an essential worker position and may require after-hours and weekend work, based on case load, staff scheduling, and urgent testing needs. This position is required to report to work, without delay, on all/most weather closure days and various holidays throughout the year. This position will be required to report to work for emergency disease response requests and may be required to work significant hours (exceeding 40 hours per week) during a disease outbreak detection and response effort or other important diagnostic effort.

    A signing bonus may be available for eligible and well qualified candidates.

  • The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks to fill one tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program in an area of mammalian reproductive physiology/endocrinology that complements existing programs within the department and university. Most reproductive physiology faculty members participate in research on large animals at the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory (ARBL; https://vetmedbiosci.colostate.edu/arbl/). Current research strengths at ARBL exist in early embryo development, neuroendocrinology, and pregnancy progression and outcomes, with an emphasis placed on relevant livestock and/or human health and disease. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a robust, independent, extramurally funded research program. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Ongoing collaborations also exist with faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Core facilities available include a light and electron microscopy imaging network (https://www.research.colostate.edu/min/) and the University’s Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility (https://www.research.colostate.edu/bio/).
    In addition, the person hired into this position will be expected to participate in the departmental teaching mission, by contributing to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional (DVM, MD) teaching. Effective mentoring and advising of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also expected. BMS faculty engage in extensive service and outreach activities which the successful candidate could contribute to depending on interests. This is a 9-month appointment with a primary academic appointment in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
  • The Fire Ecology Lab is within the Department of Forest & Rangeland Stewardship at Colorado State University is hiring for a Fire Scientist Post Doc position to be located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

    The primary objective of the planned research is to improve our understanding of the conditions under which fuel treatments produce desired socioecological outcomes when encountered by wildfire. To achieve this objective, we will develop and refine a core, scalable methodology that leverages existing spatial datasets on landscape characteristics, fire characteristics, and treatment characteristics. Specifically focusing on case studies of the Southern Rockies. The Post-doc is expected to contribute to collaborative projects and to the publication of peer-reviewed journal papers and non-technical products for diverse audiences on wildfire treatment outcomes.

    This Post doc position is specifically tasked with contributing geospatial technical and analytical skills towards developing and customizing treatment layers and wildfire remotely sensed data in Colorado and the Interior West. The incumbent will be responsible for spatial data productionand analysis using remote sensing and field-based technologies (GPS), spatial data management, spatial analysis to support science and planning initiatives, and written and oral communication of spatial data and results of spatial analyses to diverse audiences.

    This position is located in Fort Collins, and the incumbent is expected to work in-person in Fort Collins, though part-time telework may be optional.
  • The Hospital Manager for Equine and Livestock is an integral part of elevating large animal clinical care to the highest level through retention, recruitment and supervision of highly skilled, caring technicians. The Hospital Manager also has a key role in maintaining excellent client relationships and building on the quality of large animal care that CSU is known for by working closely with the Medical Director to achieve these goals in a fiscally responsible manner.

    Successful candidate should have flexibility with their schedule to meet the needs of 24/7 operations.

  • Provide a contributing role to the technological aspects of animal and human imaging research projects and provide expertise in research application using CT, Nuclear Medicine, and MRI. Work with researchers on advancing technologies and innovative imaging techniques using both software and hardware developments. Perform clinical imaging with high and low field MRI, helical and cone beam CT, PETCT, and nuclear medicine on animal patients. The technologist is primarily responsible for the development of protocols based on discussion with clinical or research faculty. The Advanced Imaging Technologist will provide service to the clinical animal advanced imaging section (CT, MRI, NM and PET/CT) while assisting with technological aspects of clinical animal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), computed tomography (CT), Nuclear Medicine (NM) and positron emission tomography(PET/CT) imaging. Supporting animal and human imaging research projects is expected. This includes overseeing advanced imaging facility and equipment function, QA/QC, and applications training. They are responsible for scheduling procedures to avoid conflicts with clinical patients and to keep various clinicians, radiologists and researchers informed of the imaging schedule. Perform advanced imaging exams ordered by clinicians on veterinary patients. Participate in nuclear medicine, and radiographic and fluoroscopic imaging studies as needed to support clinical cases and research. The Technologist also has an important role in educating faculty, staff, and students in the proper and safe use of the MRI and CT/PET equipment, radiation safety, in conducting CT and PET-CT and nuclear medicine studies, and in uses of CT,PET/CT, and MRI for research.

    This is an essential worker position and must be willing and able to report to work as directed to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay or interruption.

  • Research Associate I, II or III positions are available in the Department of Clinical Sciences, in the area(s) of animal health, infectious disease, cancer, orthopedics, and reproduction. These positions include interaction with the Principal Investigator as well as other research assistants. The individual will be part of a team of researchers completing a federally funded research project and will have a broad range of responsibilities.
