  • The Tree Equity Specialist is responsible for encouraging and assisting organizations, municipalities and neighborhoods in utilizing urban forestry grants through the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) to increase tree canopy cover in communities that have historic environmental justice disparities. The Tree Equity Specialist is also responsible for professional functions and technical expertise supporting CSFS field offices in delivering urban and community forestry programs specific to areas classified as disproportionately impacted throughout all of Colorado’s communities.

    Ongoing duties include assisting with community forestry projects (tree planting, inventory, canopy assessment, risk assessment, etc.), conducting trainings and workshops with professionals and community members, meeting with city councils and county governments as an advocate for community forestry, coordinating and participating in regional and national community forestry forums, attending and speaking at conferences, and administering grants and contracts. This position supports key working relationships with federal, state, college, municipal and nonprofit partners. Some examples are the United States Forest Service, CSU Extension and the International Society of Arboriculture.

    This position requires proficiency in program delivery including but not limited to: administering CSFS urban forestry grants, recording accomplishments, completing required reports, meeting deadlines, managing budgets, ensuring grant requirements are met, and supporting field operations. The Tree Equity Specialist must be proactive and accelerated in program development due to federal deadlines associated with urban forestry funding received by the CSFS.
    Daily activities include supporting grant awardees in overseeing grant administration, gathering and analyzing data and metrics, writing reports, assisting CSFS field offices with program implementation and coordination, and assisting the UCF Program Manager and Associate Director of Communications and Communities with other special projects as they arise.

  • The Department of Biomedical Sciences (BMS) seeks to fill one tenure-track or tenured position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor. Preference will be given to candidates with a research program in an area of mammalian reproductive physiology/endocrinology that complements existing programs within the department and university. Most reproductive physiology faculty members participate in research on large animals at the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory (ARBL; https://vetmedbiosci.colostate.edu/arbl/). Current research strengths at ARBL exist in early embryo development, neuroendocrinology, and pregnancy progression and outcomes, with an emphasis placed on relevant livestock and/or human health and disease. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a robust, independent, extramurally funded research program. Opportunities for collaboration exist with faculty in multiple basic science and engineering departments across campus including those associated with the CSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Ongoing collaborations also exist with faculty at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus. Core facilities available include a light and electron microscopy imaging network (https://www.research.colostate.edu/min/) and the University’s Proteomics and Metabolomics Facility (https://www.research.colostate.edu/bio/).
    In addition, the person hired into this position will be expected to participate in the departmental teaching mission, by contributing to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional (DVM, MD) teaching. Effective mentoring and advising of graduate students and postdoctoral fellows are also expected. BMS faculty engage in extensive service and outreach activities which the successful candidate could contribute to depending on interests. This is a 9-month appointment with a primary academic appointment in the Department of Biomedical Sciences.
  • The Fire Ecology Lab is within the Department of Forest & Rangeland Stewardship at Colorado State University is hiring for a Fire Scientist Post Doc position to be located in Fort Collins, Colorado.

    The primary objective of the planned research is to improve our understanding of the conditions under which fuel treatments produce desired socioecological outcomes when encountered by wildfire. To achieve this objective, we will develop and refine a core, scalable methodology that leverages existing spatial datasets on landscape characteristics, fire characteristics, and treatment characteristics. Specifically focusing on case studies of the Southern Rockies. The Post-doc is expected to contribute to collaborative projects and to the publication of peer-reviewed journal papers and non-technical products for diverse audiences on wildfire treatment outcomes.

    This Post doc position is specifically tasked with contributing geospatial technical and analytical skills towards developing and customizing treatment layers and wildfire remotely sensed data in Colorado and the Interior West. The incumbent will be responsible for spatial data productionand analysis using remote sensing and field-based technologies (GPS), spatial data management, spatial analysis to support science and planning initiatives, and written and oral communication of spatial data and results of spatial analyses to diverse audiences.

    This position is located in Fort Collins, and the incumbent is expected to work in-person in Fort Collins, though part-time telework may be optional.
  • The Department of Journalism and Media Communication hires part-time instructors to teach courses in print & electronic journalism, video production, computer-mediated communication, public relations, technical/specialized communication, and related areas.

    The open pool is intended to collect applications throughout the year. We draw from this pool if and when the department finds itself in need of a non-tenure track, temporary instructor in a specific area or for a specific class. There may be any number of reasons that we may hire from this pool: temporary sabbatical replacement, instructor replacement (if they find another employment opportunity), retirements, emergency medical leave replacements, etc.
  • OEE invites applications and nominations for a Teller County Extension Director (4-H Youth/Natural Resources/Community Development). This is a full-time, twelve (12) month, non-tenure track Extension faculty position. Faculty rank is dependent upon the candidate’s academic credentials and professional experience and is subject to review by the Extension Promotion Committee. The faculty appointment, evaluation, and promotion standards are centered around the three core duties of extension faculty – educate, create, and connect. Candidates are sought with interests that complement and expand upon current initiatives and education activities in OEE and CSU Extension. Provide leadership and organization in the development, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of educational programs in 4-H Youth Development, small acreage management, horticulture and community and economic development, focusing on Teller County but assisting other counties as appropriate. CSU Extension faculty throughout the state work as a team and share expertise.

    The individual in this position works as the leader of the local county extension team and as a local representative of Colorado State University. This individual works under the guidance and supervision of Mountain Region Extension Director.

    The primary office location for this position is in Divide, Colorado with the office moving to Cripple Creek, Colorado following a planned construction project. Anticipated opening of the new extension office in late 2025 or early 2026. While this position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement, the individual in this position is expected to maintain a balance establishing a presence in the primary office, to effectively carry out the duties of the position. The work schedule will vary, and occasional nights and weekend work will be necessary.
  • Research Associate I, II or III positions are available in the Department of Clinical Sciences, in the area(s) of animal health, infectious disease, cancer, orthopedics, and reproduction. These positions include interaction with the Principal Investigator as well as other research assistants. The individual will be part of a team of researchers completing a federally funded research project and will have a broad range of responsibilities.

    The successful candidate must be legally eligible to work in the U.S. by date of hire; the Clinical Sciences department will not provide visa sponsorship for these positions.

This position is responsible for handling and processing biological samples and paperwork for diagnostic cases, and will work in coordination with pathologists, microbiologists, and residents to appropriately process cases. This position will be expected to provide exceptional service to VDL clientele.

    The applicant should be responsible and able to work in a team environment. This is an essential position, and the employee is required to report to work, without delay, on all/most weather closure days and various holidays throughout the year. This position will be required to report to work for emergency disease response requests and may be required to work significant hours (exceeding 40 hours per week) during a disease outbreak detection and response effort, export testing effort, or other important diagnostic effort.

    The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; Colorado State University Diagnostic Laboratories will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

     A signing bonus and/or moving expenses may be considered for eligible and successful candidates.
