Wildlife Biologist-Hunting Coordinator - Pohakuloa Training Area, Hawaii
A Wildlife Biologist-Hunting Coordinator position is available with the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands. The position is located at the US Army Garrison, Pohakuloa Training Area (USAG-PTA) on the Big Island in Hawaii approximately 40 miles west of Hilo.
The position supports the hunting program (approximately 60%) and the Wildlife (approximately 40%) program at USAG-PTA within the Natural Resources Program. The hunting program coordinates the removal of game species (feral ungulates and upland game birds), thus reducing stressors on sensitive resources on Army-managed lands while supporting sustained military training at Pohakuloa Training Area (PTA). The employee:
Administers, plans, and manages the formal public hunting program at PTA. Coordinates public hunting activities and plans and implements game management and hunting activities at PTA in accordance with applicable Army regulations/ coordination. Uses web-based software such as iSportsman to manage public hunting information, hunter registration, permit sales, harvest reporting, and automated data tabulation and analysis. Collects and analyzes hunter effort and harvest data. As directed, monitors game populations to support public hunting activity. Implements field operations, including, but not limited to, facilities construction and maintenance (e.g., water sources, fencing and gates, information kiosks).
Supports a wide variety of wildlife and federally-listed wildlife management and planning activities in the field and office, including surveys, monitoring, data management and analysis, technical report preparation, assistance with threat management and restoration activities, public outreach, and other duties.
Is supervised by the Natural Resource Program Wildlife Program Manager (CSU).
Coordinates regularly with the State agencies and Army offices at PTA.
Coordinates and collaborates with other natural resources support staff at PTA and federal biologists.
The position is contingent upon funding for continued CSU support for natural resource management on PTA.
Relocation expenses may be available; conditions apply.
Research Associate I or II - Open Pool
We are looking for individuals who seek temporary or special assignment positions with the CCP. Potential activities include assisting with development of new programming or providing support services and evaluating the effectiveness of those services within one of our existing programs.
The open position(s) may be a temporary or special assignment and may vary from part- to full-time. In addition, these are 9-month positions with the possibility of a summer assignment. Annual terms depend on continued availability of funding.
Postdoctoral Fellow - Groundwater Modeling
This position will involve utilizing synthetic aperture radar interferometry (InSAR) data to calibrate subsidence models for specific regions. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of land subsidence phenomena and developing effective mitigation strategies. The main deliverable for the position will be publications on the successful implementation of the projects, as well as the code developed to complete the projects.
Groundwater Modeling: The primary responsibility of this position will be to calibrate a MODFLOW groundwater flow model with subsidence data in southwest Utah. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hydrogeology, experience with MODFLOW modeling software, and proficiency in analyzing and interpreting InSAR data. Responsibilities will include data processing, model calibration, sensitivity analysis, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support groundwater management efforts in the region.
Theatre Design Instructors – Open Pool 2024
The School of Music, Theatre, and Dance may seek full time or part time, temporary Theatre Design Instructors to teach a variety of courses including introductory and advanced set/scenic design, lighting design, computer-assisted design/drawing, and design special topics classes. Mentoring of design practicum students expected.
Applicants are added to the pool list throughout the calendar year. Hiring decisions are made during the late spring and early summer for fall semester, during the early fall semester for spring and during the spring semester for the summer term.
Registered Veterinary Technician I - IMCU
This position recovers patients from anesthesia, provides perioperative care, promotes overall patient comfort, administers medications as needed, and communicates as needed with IC team, work leader and supervisor as needed.
This is an essential worker position and must be willing and able to report to work as directed to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay or interruption.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Research Scientists/Scholars I, II, III and Senior - Open Pool
The Department of Chemistry seeks applications from Ph.D. level scientists/engineers who are interested in obtaining temporary or special research positions at the research scientist/scholar level.
Level I
is for individuals generally within three years of receiving their Ph.D., and with significant professional accomplishments.
Level II
is analogous to the assistant professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes people with three to seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. level, and with very significant professional accomplishments.
Level III
is analogous to the associate professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals with more than seven years of experience beyond the Ph.D. level, and with very significant professional accomplishments.

Senior leve
l is analogous to the full professor title for regular faculty. It generally includes individuals well beyond the Ph.D. level that have demonstrated outstanding, sustained, and extraordinary professional accomplishments, as well as professional leadership.
Ranking and qualifications within these levels are done on a case-by-case basis with factors that include the publication record, past research funding, professional honors and awards, decisive discoveries, and management experience. Applicable department research areas include, among others, analytical, biological, chemistry education, inorganic, materials, organic, and physical chemistry. Access Control Technician
This position functions as an access control technician that provides the maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and installation of university electronic card access and mechanical lock systems to include (but not limited to) such things as: hardware replacements, software programming, and a variety of key cutting, lock pinning, and door maintenance tasks. In addition to these, this position works with university staff and residents to issue keys and credentials and perform audits of previous issued keys.
Postdoctoral Fellow - OPEN POOL (Atmospheric Science)
Working with a faculty adviser, the postdoctoral fellow will conduct specialized research in one or more areas of
Atmospheric Science
, including atmospheric chemistry; climate and atmosphere-ocean dynamics; cloud microphysics, severe storms, and mesoscale meteorology; data assimilation, machine learning, and causal discovery; education and human resources; global biogeochemical cycles and ecosystems; and radiation and remote sensing. The research may range from theoretical to applied and involve the use of measurement and/or modeling approaches. This position will also summarize findings and publish research results in journals and present findings at scientific meetings and conferences.
